Okay, so I have a work Christmas party coming up, and it's a fancy dress sort of thing. Not altogther formal, per se, though people can do that if they want (it's Seattle. Dress code here is something we take out every so often and poke gentle fun at.) Now, I don't have a dress that will serve. Or rather, I have three dresses--one goes with a suit jacket, one is a cotton summer slip dress (won't work), and one is a short slip dress that's red with black lace over it, that's a size 14 and roughly 5 years old. I haven't worn it in forever. I keep it so that I'll know when I get to that size. It's also, well, short, and thus not altogether work-occasion appropriate. I've also been losing weight and reshaping things a bit, and I'd like to get something that actually fits me.

Well, last night/today I realized I needed to get on the stick if I were going to look for something, and so I went to looking online to get an idea of what's out there. I found this.

I really like it, and I think it would look nice on me. There's a Coldwater Creek store in town, and I think I may go by in the next weekend or so and see if they have it in stock, then try it on to see what it looks like. I'm not entirely confident enough to buy it sight unseen, but I think it would work. Comments?

Combine this with my red shiny glasses, and you could probably hang ornaments on me and not feel out of place. :) But it's a Christmas party, so that's okay. 'Tis the season, and all.

I think that'd look killer on you, with the jacket especially.

I'm with Matt on this one. I think the colour and the style would suit you really well!

Oh, I have the latest Coldwater Creek catalogue, that's such a pretty dress. You get to try it on? Go for it! :) You've got the colouring for it, and hey, you deserve to treat yourself!

*sigh* There's so much in that catalogue I pine for, but no stores up here (and all the prices are in US funds, plus shipping... yeah). I envy you. *hug*

Pretty! I've never met you in person, but I'd certainly try it on. That's a very flattering cut for lots of shapes, at a guess. Love the skirt length.

Also, you don't have to get the jacket if you don't want. It would be really nice with a shawl or a cardigan too.

Does the belt come off? And do you have shoes and a bag to go with?

It would indeed look very nice on you, I think, my dear. You should definitely go to check it out.

Very nice, and very festive! I like the jacket, too--maybe spice the black up with a nice bright holiday pin of some sort?
