So as of today, I'm the proud owner of a 2001 Toyota Camry with a grand total of 15,000 miles on it. The mind boggles. It's a sweet car, though, and it's in my price range, and I can afford the payments, and it'll probably still be worth something when I finish paying it off. And it's under warranty, so if something breaks, I don't have to figure out where to get $X00 dollars on the spur of the moment to fix it. I am very happy, just not having to deal with the Hamster anymore. It was a good little car while it lasted, but its time had come. I got a good deal and I think I made the right decision... oh, and they're giving me cash back, so maybe I can get the dress after all! Woo hoo!

Congrats!!!

I think it sounds like a smart decision too. When our car at the time keeled over on us seven years ago, we knew we needed to replace it, and ultimately decided it would be more cost-effective for us, since we didn't have ready cash reserves for frequent repairs, to just lease a bare-bones new car. We figured $200/month was easier to cope with than $400 this month, $600 in three months, etc. Our repair bills had been averaging out to about $200/month anyway, so it was more a question of peace of mind than the actual money.

So getting a newer car that you can afford payments on that's unlikely to need much in the way of repairs for the next few years makes really good sense, I say.

Yay you!

Occasionally, the benefits of being a grown-up are pretty durned cool.

Go get the dress! Your horde of admiring minions demands it! ;-)

Good choice. Both Christopher and I have Camrys and they've always been solid and reliable.

And I definitely still think you should at least try on that dress... ;-)

*grin*

I think I may see if I can find my way downtown tomorrow, or at least call and see if they have it in stock. If they don't, they I may have to decide to take my chances with ordering it. We shall see. :)

w00t! That's excellent!

I have a Camry as well, and it's an excellent car (although mine a 1998 model, that now has just over 101,000km on it :)

You should have no problems with that one for years!

When I was car shopping two years ago, I really, really wanted a Toyota Camry, but ended up with a Honda Civic because there were no Camrys in my price range nearby and I didn't have time to shop around. When my current car dies I'll probably get one, though. Congratulations!

I saw that, Santa. Not before I posted, though. Thank you, whoever you are. I sat flabbergasted for nigh unto five minutes straight with my mouth hanging open before I managed to process it. My kids will be gratified to know that Santa doesn't stop coming just because you've grown up. Thank you so much. *hug*

Congratulations. It's always fun to get a new car, especially one that runs well and has a warranty. :)

Where did you buy? From a dealer or an ad in the paper or what?

I need a car too :-)

I bought from a dealer. I'll email you. If I recommend someone, I get a finder's fee, so that's a cool thing. :)
