So as of today, I'm the proud owner of a 2001 Toyota Camry with a grand total of 15,000 miles on it. The mind boggles. It's a sweet car, though, and it's in my price range, and I can afford the payments, and it'll probably still be worth something when I finish paying it off. And it's under warranty, so if something breaks, I don't have to figure out where to get $X00 dollars on the spur of the moment to fix it. I am very happy, just not having to deal with the Hamster anymore. It was a good little car while it lasted, but its time had come. I got a good deal and I think I made the right decision... oh, and they're giving me cash back, so maybe I can get the dress after all! Woo hoo!

Date: 2005-11-20 03:41 am (UTC)From:I think it sounds like a smart decision too. When our car at the time keeled over on us seven years ago, we knew we needed to replace it, and ultimately decided it would be more cost-effective for us, since we didn't have ready cash reserves for frequent repairs, to just lease a bare-bones new car. We figured $200/month was easier to cope with than $400 this month, $600 in three months, etc. Our repair bills had been averaging out to about $200/month anyway, so it was more a question of peace of mind than the actual money.
So getting a newer car that you can afford payments on that's unlikely to need much in the way of repairs for the next few years makes really good sense, I say.
Yay you!

You should have no problems with that one for years!
