Living room shakeups
Nov. 14th, 2007 12:06 pmSo I have rearranged at least half my living room. The computer has moved over by the windows and the couch is now against the wall where before both the computer resided and the stuff piled up against the wall. I set about this change as it occurred to me that my baseboard heater was effectively trapped behind my couch, which meant the air behind my couch was toasty warm, but the rest of the room took forever to get comfy. Which means, of course, I was effectively tossing money out the window in the form of my electric bill. I was concerned that the cords wouldn't reach (I have a cable modem) but reach they did. Of course I can't actually move my TV and entertainment center because of that very problem (or rather, that I need a power strip so that my three necessary items can plug in on the desired wall) so it and the bookcases are staying put for now, but it could be worse.
It has brought home to me that I need more art on the walls like whoa (and I do have art, but it's in need of framing, which is expensive. Maybe after my new job starts). In the meantime, though, as long as I've given up on the idea of the coffee table and instead am willing to adopt the idea of the "pull it over when we need it" table, my living room has a lot more useable room to it and my computer area feels far cosier (and warmer for me, being lots closer to the heater). Hopefully it'll be cheaper as well. We shall see.
