Wow, that was dumb.
Feb. 9th, 2008 11:31 pmSo I'd been reading about beauty tips a couple of weeks ago, and one of them was to take used teabags, chill them, and put them over your eyes to help fight dark circles. I've ben drinking more tea lately -- in fact, I just had a cup tonight. so after having it, when I was about to toss the teabag, I thought, "Hey! I'll save this and try that tip out!"
Off it goes into the fridge and then a few minutes ago, after I got the kids off to bed, I remembered it again. I pulled it out, put it on one eye (that way I could tell if it helped) and sat back to watch TV. At first it was nice, very cool, but then I noticed the cool was starting to turn into a tingle, and from there into a burn all around my eye... at which point I realized that I wasn't drinking actual tea -- I was drinking herbal tea, the ingredients of which are:
Red Rooibos (red "tea"), chicory root, rosehips, cinnamon, peppermint, lemongrass, papaya, chamomile, panax ginseng leaves, anise seed, ginger root, dandelion root, orange peel, and orange oil.
So, yeah. Strong burning plant oils on the skin all around my eye. I went and washed my face straight away and the worst of it is gone, but I can tell it's still sensitive. Duh. :)
