Today's Menu

Breakfast: 2 poached eggs, 2 slices Canadian bacon, grilled Roma tomato slices, Cinnamon tea -- yep, still acceptable. And the first day (possibly ever) I've actually cooked breakfast for myself before work! Go me!

Morning snack: Lactose-free mozzerella string cheese. Cinnamon tea.

Lunch: Romaine, fennel, cherry tomato, fresh mozzeralla salad w/ rosemary ham and olive oil & vinegar and herb dressing.

Afternoon snack: Lactose-free mozzerella string cheese. Cinnamon tea.

Dinner:Turkey, swiss, and roasted asparagus roll-ups with steamed broccoli

Dessert: Plain yogurt with vanilla extract, cinnamon, and agave nectar.

Things I Have Learned

1) I can withstand temptation! Also, my body gets pissed off now when I give it carbs or regular sugar. It tastes so good, but the headache/crappy feeling that immediately follows it is definitely keeps me from overindulging. Guess that's the hallmark of an unhealthy relationship. I hope this passes over the two weeks, because I like those things, damn it. I'm not prepared to give up fresh orange juice or fruit or the odd bit of pasta or bread forever, and I don't want to feel like crap if I indulge now and again.

2) That breakfast really works for me, at least until I get sick of it. Hopefully that won't be for at least two weeks, as none of the other options I've seen look all that good. I'm totally going to steal the slow-cooker steel-cut oats recipe that BruceB showed me, though.

3) Thank heavens for Good Earth's Sweet and Spicy Original tea. I would be lost without it.

4) My work used to have plain almonds in the cupboard, but not now. Must bring something other than string cheese next time.

5) Need to work in some sort of soymilk or something during the day.

1) My lunch salad was smaller than I had thought it was, so I was still hungry and snarfed the string cheese then. That left me without a snack, so I knew I'd have to do something. Lo and behold, Starbucks sells dry roasted almonds. Hooray, says I, and purchased them to have later that day.

Two almonds later, and I realize that my stomach does not enjoy almonds, at least not by themselves, particularly not dry roasted. Urp. Alas and alack.

2) Since I was bereft of afternoon snackage, I went for a piece of hard candy and a mini Special Dark bar, as it was either that or bread or a cookie or something, and the two pieces together were well within the allowed calorie range for sweets -- granted, they were the wrong kind of sweets, and I could tell after I ate them, but I didn't keel over either, so that's something.

Still, more learning being done. Could be worse. :)
