So far it's been a pretty awesome birthday, all told. My boyfriend called me a couple of times, once to sing to me himself, once to have his gaming group sing happy birthday to me. That was amazingly awesome. :) Will made my "birthday dinner" on Friday (with a little help) and it turned out pretty well, despite my skepticism about the recipe he chose (turkey burgers) and my general lack of fondness of ground meat. It didn't matter, though: I'd have eaten that no matter how bad it was. I was really proud of him.

I got True Blood season 1 and Pushing Daisies season 2 as presents delivered by the Amazon birthday fairy from my wish list, which was really, really cool. I took the boys out to Applebees for dinner on my birthday itself. Not the place I would have chosen, but we would all eat there and I could afford it.

As of yesterday I started a new part-time contract gig doing online moderation for a company called Roblox, which is an online kids game. It's not much, but it's a few weekend hours a week, it doesn't conflict with anything else I'm doing, and it'll make a good "get caught back up" income stream if I get the job with Pokemon (and it'll keep me from being quite so desperately broke otherwise). I can also keep it up if grad school calls, which is nice. That said, by the end of a shift (much less a double shift like I pulled today) even typing straight is a challenge. It eats my language centers.

Random things that merit mention:

1) I'm listening -- really listening -- to Silly Wizard for the first time in a decade. I'm shocked at how much it summons Albuquerque for me, though I suppose I shouldn't be. I glad I purchased it a while back, as it is really good, but... well, it's going to take some more listening to get the memory to fade. It doesn't hurt, but it is a touch sore in places.

2) I have a couple hundred pages of reading to catch up on this weekend, not counting what I need to move forward and be ready to give my abstract in English on Tuesday. Yes, that's just as intimidating as it sounds, and I may be going up on Sunday morning to the library before my shift in order to get some research done.

3) I have to cook tomorrow. I've got the stuff to make orange chicken in the crock pot, which is useful, so I imagine that'll be dinner tomorrow. I also bought some lunchmeat since i was out, so sandwiches will have to get us through for a while. Of course, that then begs the question of what I'm fixing next week for boys for dinner.... gah. So glad when I get some money coming in.

4) You know, I'm not sure there is a #4. But it seemed nice to put it here. :)
