I have the attention span of a small, attentionless thing right now, but I'm still here and either drugged and spacy or non-drugged and hurty (no fair guessing which I was when I posted this). Either way, no one has come to check on me in two days, and while I'm actually okay enough not to need it, I'm still lonely. So if you read this journal, write a comment, preferably something cheerful and happy and non-disaster/politically related right now as I have no good coping skills and do not wish to be upset and sad.

*taps foot impatiently*

I'll be back.

*goes to fall over for now*

You know, the long chat we had at Gencon was actually one of the highlights of my con. It was so wonderful to talk to someone (other than my hosts) who just accepted me with all my neuroses and still thought I was pretty damn cool. I was exceptionally grateful that we got a chance to talk for a while, especially about non-gaming related stuff.

I hope you feel much better and less lonely soon, m'dear *hug*

Well, that's because you are pretty damn cool, love. I only wish we'd gotten a second shot at talking with one another. Looking back on it, I was somewhat under the weather even then, and so struggling more than I would have liked with the "I'm shy! I have no personal life worth talking about and can't possibly have any problems! Nothing to see here! Move along!" sort of auto-response. I think I overcame it tolerably well, but I can't remember with any certainty. Getting to spend time with you, though, is one of the things I was most glad about for the whole convention.

Oh, and for the record, my roommates were highly amused when I called them and told them I was off to get a beer with some Australian guys before lunch, given that I don't drink beer and hadn't actually had breakfast yet on that particular day, not to mention the whole sheletered life non-dating shy thing. :) It was all good, though. :)

You're very kind and yes, you overcame your shyness very well, I thought :) It is a shame we didn't get a chance to have a second chat; I probably could have used it, given the way my con played out in the end.

As for beer before lunch, I usually don't drink it either, but hey, I was overseas and in that kinda of a mood :)

Tonight, Caz and I ate in a restaurant and walked right past the high chairs and didn't give a damn if any of them had a working lap belt latch or not, because the kids weren't with us! We're visiting his folks and they agreed to watch the boys for us for a few hours so we could go out. We were going to see a movie, but there was nothing playing at a decent time within range, so we just went out for dinner and then hung out at Borders for a while. I had this Vanilla Honey Chai which was marvelous at the beginning, but then I think the honey didn't mix in perfectly, because by the end it was so sweet I thought my tongue was going to cave in. But it really was marvelous at the beginning - we had the option to stop for ice cream, and I didn't even want any because I was too in love with my chai. (Okay, and because I'd had too much barbecued stuff at Famous Dave's for dinner - oof!)

Glad you're feeling better, but sorry you're lonely. Lonely is never fun. Hope you enjoyed my little LJ Post Just For You! :)

Well, as you may have seen in an earlier post on my LJ, I'm trying to build a Superhero team for a little game on RPGnet's Other Media forum.

This is proving slightly more difficult than I originally imagined, mostly because I limited myself a bit by taking the "Teen Team", so I have some restrictions on which characters to use. Sure, I could "cheat" a little, and simply use an earlier, younger version of a character, but I want to avoid that. I could also take an older hero as a "Mentor", but again, want to stay within my limits.

We have both DC and Marvel available, because we're setting this in a big "amalgamated" world where everything from both is available for us to use. It's kinda funny, cause when I started, I could think of a lot more "Current" Teen DC characters than I could Marvel. But once I strated digging and working up a pool of characters to draft from, I found there were a LOT more Marvel chars I wanted to use than DC. Probably comes from being a Marvel Zombie growing up, and being semi-unfamiliar with DC outside of the "big" names and certain characters/groups I've actually read up on or followed. I know a hell of a lot more trivial Marvel background.

Plus there comes the problem of finding the rigt team dynamics. You don't want to duplicate powers too much, and you want to fill certain roles. And that can be difficult. I'm breaking another of my self-imposed rules and probably drafting a relatively new character to fill my "Magic Support" role. The character seems cool, but he's only been in a couple comics so far and there's very little actual background on him so far. But I can't really find another teen character that I like to fit in.

And finally, I'm somewhat at a loss as to what the goal of group will be, why they're together, and who their major villain(s) should be. I have an inkling of how to get a couple characters together, thanks to a last minute "Roster change", hopefully. Since it's a draft, there's always the chance someone could snag my pick first. I got my "Big" names pretty quick, namely Superboy and Robin. Jubilee is another that might get snagged by someone else, but I'm still not certain I'm going to take her. I think the last minute change above is replacing her.

Ahh well, once I start working up the story a bit, I'll post in my LJ as well as on RPGnet :]

There are lovely saucer-shaped yellow zucchinis in the garden, and Swiss chard, and broccoli. *makes you dinner* (Well, perhaps at a more godly hour, hmm? :)

The bunny's asleep, the crickets are chirping, the air's clear and smells like autumn. Happy thoughts about little things are always good.

Alex has more Pirate cards and there are little ships and islands sitting beside me as I type. I read your post and looked at them and thought of your boys, because what kid wouldn't like these? I hope that the lads are helping you feel better.

*hug* Be well, eat something cold and non-chewy and preferably decadent, rest, hug whenever and whomever you can, and listen to the night.

I'm gonna be in Seattle later this week. Wanna cross paths? (This is morgue from RPGnet btw.) Coffee and yarns would be cool.

Gah! If it's not too late, then sure. I'm sorry, I only now really found this. I plead impairment by pain medication. Mea culpa.

Hey there. Are you set up for playing mp3s and/or iTunes' aac files? Care package links later, depending on details.

In the meantime, read about why Michael Kelly hates the Internet.

The south pole of Enceladus (a small moon of Saturn, roughly the same scale as the UK's North-South axis) has surface features that may be as young as ten years old and no older than ten thousand years. What a moon that one can practically put in one's pocket is doing with active geology is a mystery: none of the known energy sources (tidal, solar and what have you) currently available to it can account for this.

The galaxy has a 27,000 light-year bar at the middle. For some reason, this news went over very well with SF fans from the UK.

My new house is coming together, though there's still a mountain of crap (and three animals) to move yet. But it's nice and comfy; we spent our first night there last night. Big, though; not used to having so much space.

I spent the last couple of hours cleaning my apartment, and now I'm goofing off.
